Who we are
Why Tillyard exists
Tillyard is a small Ohio nonprofit started by a college student. It's here so students can do real research and find the people to do it with.
From the founder, Chase Marcum
Getting through school keeps getting easier. You can finish most assignments without ever really wrestling with them. I think that's a loss, because the wrestling is where creativity comes from.
I started Tillyard for two reasons. The first is research. Working through a question yourself, with nobody handing you the answer, makes you more creative, and creative people go on to build better products and better companies. That's good for all of us. It has also never been easier to start: public data and free tools mean a laptop can do what used to take a lab. What most students are missing is a little money and someone telling them they're allowed to try. Tillyard's grants and guides are there for that.
The second is people. Who you know matters in college and after it, and it's easy to spend four years knowing only the people in your classes. The study rooms and team projects here put you next to students from other colleges who care about the same things you do.
Tillyard is free, and it will stay free. If something here could be better, write to me.

How Tillyard is run
- Tillyard is an Ohio nonprofit corporation. It has no owners and no shareholders, and nobody takes a profit from it.
- Trustees serve without pay.
- There are no ads and no paid tier, and we never sell or hand over information about students.
- Grants are chosen by criteria published before anyone applies. No trustee, and nobody in a trustee's family, can receive one.
- What a grant pays for is published openly, free for anyone to read.
