On the house
Donate
You can make a one-time donation to Tillyard, the Ohio nonprofit that runs Tillyard. The site stays free for students either way.
Tillyard is an Ohio nonprofit corporation and cannot yet accept donations. No part of a donation goes to any member. Donating does not change your standing here.
Not yet, but soon
Tillyard cannot accept donations yet: we open them once the nonprofit's bank account and its registrations are in place. Leave your email and we will write to you once, when donations open. We use your address for that one email and nothing else, then delete it.
Why it is free
Tillyard exists to help college students learn, work together and show what they have done. There is no paid tier and no advertising, and people who donate get nothing extra.
Good to know before you give
- Who receives it
- Tillyard, the Ohio nonprofit that runs Tillyard. The charge should appear on your statement as TILLYARD HOUSE.
- What kind of payment this is
- A voluntary, one-time donation. Nothing renews. The only receipt is the one Stripe emails you, and what a donation means for your taxes is in the statement at the top of this page.
- Where it goes
- Into the nonprofit's general work.
- What it changes
- Nothing about how you are treated here. A donation earns no title, stamp, publication, faster reading or other standing, and it is not linked to your account. You get no ownership in the nonprofit and nothing back later.
- Your details
- Stripe asks for your email and card details and sends the receipt. The nonprofit can see your name, email and the amount in its Stripe records, which it needs for refunds and its books. None of that is copied into this site, and no list of donors is kept or published here.
- Refunds
- Write to support@tillyard.org, or use the dispute form, up to 30 days after you paid and we refund the full amount to the payment method you used. You do not have to give a reason. The one exception is a payment you have already disputed with your bank, which the bank then decides. Use the dispute form.
- Paying from outside the United States
- Stripe may show the amount in your own currency and add its own conversion charge.
- Who should skip this
- Please skip this if you are under 18, if five dollars matters to you this month, if the card is not yours to use, or if you hope it will help with a decision. It will not, and we may send it back. The site is the same either way.
- Questions
- The Tillyard team, support@tillyard.org. By post: Tillyard, 10602 York Rd SW, Etna, Ohio 43062.
We never ask
Nobody from Tillyard will ask you to pay to keep a title, publish a paper or settle a report. If someone does, it is not us.
For a larger amount, or to sponsor something
Larger donations and sponsorships are arranged in writing and paid on an invoice from Stripe. They give no ownership, no return and no say over editorial decisions, readings or anyone's standing. A sponsor is thanked in one line, with its name only. Companies, recruiters and colleges: please use this route, not the donation links.
Questions people ask
Does donating help my paper, my record or a report?
No. Nothing here depends on a donation, and the site does not know who has donated.
Can I donate to a host, an author or another member?
No. A donation goes to the nonprofit. Members are not paid through this site and may not ask each other for money here.
Can I give every month?
Not at present. Each donation is a single payment and nothing renews.
Can I get a receipt for my taxes?
Stripe emails a payment receipt. What a donation means for your taxes is in the statement at the top of this page.
Can a company, a recruiter or a college give this way?
Please use the route for larger amounts and sponsors, so it is arranged in writing.
I see a charge I do not recognise.
Write to support@tillyard.org or use the dispute form. Refunds go back to the card that paid.
Why Stripe?
So that card details never touch this site. The payment page and the receipt are Stripe's.
Is there a list of donors?
No. We keep no list of donors, and no names or marks appear beside names.
Will you email me after I donate?
Stripe sends its receipt. The nonprofit may also write you one thank-you letter from its own records. Your address is not added to any list.
