If an intimate image of you has been shared on Tillyard without your consent, you can ask us to remove it. This page says how.
In short
- Anyone can ask. You do not need an account, and it costs nothing.
- A request needs four things: your signature, where the material is, a statement that it was shared without your consent, and a way to reach you.
- We remove the material within 48 hours of a valid request, and we look for identical copies.
- Do not send us the image.
If this summary and the full text below ever differ, the full text governs.
Who can ask
- The person shown in the image.
- Someone that person has authorized to act for them, such as a parent, a lawyer or a friend they asked.
It does not matter whether the image is real or was made or altered by software. It does not matter whether you are a member, a student, an adult or in the United States.
Tillyard is almost all text. A member can upload a picture only as a figure in a paper for Tillyard Research, and the editor looks at it before the paper is published. What can also be posted is a link to an image, text that encodes one, or a description that points to one. Each of those, and any figure, can be removed through this process.
What a request needs
- Your signature. Typing your full name counts. A person you have authorized can sign for you.
- Where the material is on Tillyard, in enough detail for us to find it: the page address, or who posted it and when.
- A short statement that you believe in good faith that the image was shared without your consent.
- A way to reach you. An email address is enough.
That is all. We do not ask for ID, and we do not need to see the image. Please do not send it.
How to send it
- The form on this page. No account is needed.
- Email: safety@tillyard.org, with the subject line "Intimate image removal".
- Post: Tillyard, Attn: Intimate image removal, 10602 York Rd SW, Etna, Ohio 43062.
If you are a member, you can also use the report control beside the item and choose "An intimate image of me".
If the form will not work for you, or the site is paused, use email or post. A pause on the site does not pause the 48 hours.
What we do
- We remove the material as soon as possible, and no later than 48 hours after we receive a request that has the four parts.
- We look for identical copies on the site and remove the ones we find.
- You get a ticket number, and we aim to tell you the outcome.
- We do not tell the person who posted the material who asked for it to come down.
Other help
- If the person shown was under 18 when the image was made, this process still applies. Please do not save, copy or forward the image. You can also use Take It Down, a free service from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, at takeitdown.ncmec.org.
- We can remove material only from Tillyard. If the image itself is held on another site, ask that site as well.
- If you think we have not done what the law requires, you can complain to the Federal Trade Commission, which enforces this law, at TakeItDown.ftc.gov.
- If you are in danger now, call 911. In a crisis, call or text 988.
The full policy
The Intimate-Image Removal Policy sets out every detail: what counts as an intimate image, what happens if a part of your request is missing, how the 48 hours are counted, what we keep and for how long. Where this page and that policy differ, the policy governs.
