Email and Communications Policy =============================== Tillyard. Version 1.2. In effect from October 21, 2026. Fingerprint of this text (SHA-256): 11ba047408e040511a7d591f9cb1ca9cc60332f107caf0d2e245564b41ecddba This version: https://tillyard.org/policies/email-and-communications-policy/v/1.2 - The site does not send email yet: no codes, receipts or acknowledgements. Until it does, a person answers what you write to our addresses, by hand, from an address at tillyard.org. - We send as little email as we can. Most things reach you as a notice inside the site. - There are three kinds of email. Essential email (sign-in codes, security and legal notices) and notices about a decision that concerns you are sent whatever your settings. Optional email is off until you switch it on. - Every optional email has a one-step unsubscribe that works without signing in. It takes effect at once. - Our email carries no tracking: no remote images, no tracked links and no attachments. We do not know whether you opened a message. - Nobody else's words appear in an email. An email tells you something is waiting and links in. - We never ask by email for a sign-in code, payment, bank details or an identity document, and no link in an email signs you in. - A genuine message comes from an address at tillyard.org and carries our legal name, our postal address and the reason you received it. - On a busy day an email can be late or not sent at all. What is in your account is the record. - We do not send text messages, make phone calls or send anyone else's advertising. If this summary and the full text below ever differ, the full text governs. 1. What this document covers ============================ 1.1 What this document covers, and who is speaking -------------------------------------------------- Tillyard is an Ohio nonprofit corporation. "We" and "us" mean Tillyard. This document covers every way we get in touch with you: - email sent by the site; - notices shown inside the site; - letters and replies written by a person, today the president; - post, on the rare occasions we use it. It covers members, people who are not members but who gave us an email address (for example to confirm something, to ask for a removal or to join a waiting list), and anyone who writes to us. 1.2 What it does not cover -------------------------- - Messages members write to each other in Notes, threads and table chat. The Messaging and Monitoring Notice covers those. - Email you send from your own mail program, including anything you write with the help of the templates in The Workbench or The Almanac. We do not send it and never see it (section 15). - What happens to your information. The Privacy Notice covers that. This document says what we send and how to control it. 1.3 How this fits with other documents -------------------------------------- - The Terms of Use (section 36) say how formal notices are given between you and us, and when a notice counts as received. On that point the Terms of Use govern. - The Privacy Notice (section 12) summarizes this document. On which messages we send and how to stop them, this document is the more specific one and governs. Section 37.5 of the Terms of Use sets the order among all our documents, including the sections of those terms that prevail over every other document. - The Security and Vulnerability Disclosure Policy covers what to do if your account may have been taken over. - The Data Retention Schedule gives the period for each record mentioned here. - The Accessibility Statement covers how our email works with assistive technology. 1.4 Words used here ------------------- Words that have one meaning in every one of our documents, such as member, visitor, staff, the editor, record item, hold, case and tip, are defined in Definitions. The words below are added for this document's own subject, or repeated from Definitions for convenience. If a repeated meaning ever differs, Definitions governs the meaning of the word. - Essential email is email needed to run and protect your account or to meet a legal duty. - A notice email tells you about a decision or an event that concerns you directly. - Optional email is email you asked for and can stop. - A notice in the app is a message shown inside the site, on your home page and in your notices list. It is not an email. - To unsubscribe is to stop one kind of optional email. - The do-not-email list is a list of addresses that have asked never to be emailed again, kept as keyed hashes and not as readable addresses. - A keyed hash is a scrambled form of a value, made with a secret key, that lets us tell whether two values are the same without storing the value. - The sending domain is the internet domain our email comes from: tillyard.org. 2. Our approach =============== - Notices first, email second. Almost everything that happens on the site reaches you as a notice in the app. Email is kept for signing in, for security, for decisions that concern you and for legal notices, plus the few reminders you ask for. - One purpose per email. Each email is about one thing and has at most one button. - Nobody else's words. No text written by another member ever appears in an email. An email says "you have a new note" and links in. It does not show the note. - Short, neutral subjects. Your college runs the mailbox we write to, and people may see your screen. Subject lines are written to say little, such as "There is a decision about your account", without saying what the decision is. - No pressure. No email asks for a tip. No email counts down to anything or tells you that you are missing out. - Sent only to addresses whose owner gave them to us. A member cannot make the site email someone else (section 4.6). The reason for all of this is partly respect for your inbox and partly practical. The site can send only a limited number of emails a day, and a sending domain that annoys people soon stops being delivered, including the sign-in codes that everyone depends on. 3. The three classes of email ============================= The three classes of email. Columns: class, what it is for, can you switch it off?, when the day's email allowance is short. Class | What it is for | Can you switch it off? | When the day's email allowance is short ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Essential | Sign-in codes, security notices, legal notices and acknowledgements | No, while you have an account or an open request | Sent first Notice | A decision or event that concerns you: a paper, a title, a record, a case, a dispute, a removal request | No, while you have an account or an open request | Sent next. If it cannot be sent, the notice in the app still appears Optional | Reminders and letters you asked for | Yes. Off until you switch each one on, with a one-step unsubscribe | Sent last, and only if allowance remains 4. Every message we send ======================== This is the full set. A message not on this list, claiming to be from us, deserves suspicion (section 8). A reply that a person writes from an address at tillyard.org, answering something you sent us, is genuine too. 4.1 Essential email ------------------- Sent whatever your settings are. Essential email. Columns: message, when it is sent, to. Message | When it is sent | To ------------------------------ Sign-in code | You ask to join, or to sign in or recover your account by code | The college address you typed Code for the yearly check of your college address | You press "Send me a code" during the yearly check | Your college address Code for a change of address | You ask to move your account to a new college address | The new address Your sign-in address is about to change | A change of address has been confirmed and is waiting | The old address New device | A device that has not signed in before signs in to your account | Your college address Passkey added or removed | A passkey on your account changes | Your college address Signed in by code alone | A session was opened with a code and no passkey, and some actions are limited for a time | Your college address A data export was asked for | An export of your data is started, at the least whenever the session was opened by code alone | Your college address Your account is set to close | You confirm that you want to close your account | Your college address A change to the terms | An important change to a document you agreed to has been published | Your college address We have your request, with a ticket number and a status link | You send a removal request, a copyright notice or a dispute | The address you gave on the form Code to confirm your address for a request | You are asked to prove that an address is yours before a request is acted on | The address you gave 4.2 Notice email ---------------- Sent whatever your settings are, because each one concerns something you submitted or a decision about you. Many of these also appear as a notice in the app, and some may reach you only that way. Tillyard Research - We have your paper. - A paper is ready for you to read, if you choose to. This is sent only while you are in the reading pool. Leaving the pool stops it, and you can decline any paper. - The editor has asked for changes. - Your paper was accepted. - Your paper was not accepted for publication. - A correction or a withdrawal notice has been added to a paper of yours. Titles and The Record - We have your request for a title. - A title was signed, was not signed this time, or was withdrawn. - An item on your Record was confirmed, was disputed or was withdrawn. - A project you worked on is on your Record. - A part of one of your projects has been questioned. - The person who confirmed one of your service entries has withdrawn the confirmation. Safety, cases and disputes - There is a decision about your account. The email says only that, and asks you to sign in to read it. - We have your request for a second look, and later, it has been read. - Something was removed after a copyright notice. - Your removal request or your dispute has been closed, with the outcome. - We have your refund request. - Your account was closed because we concluded that its holder was under 18. Account - Welcome, sent once after you join. - An invitation you sent was accepted. 4.3 Optional email ------------------ Sent only if you switched it on. Each one can be stopped by itself (section 9). Optional email. Columns: message, what it is, how it starts. Message | What it is | How it starts ------------------------------------ The weekly letter | One short email a week, sent only when something is waiting for you and you have not been in for a couple of days. Counts and links, nobody's words. It stops by itself after several weeks without a visit | Account, "Notifications" The shop is open | One line when The Shop's sign is turned for the evening | The Shop, "Tell me when it opens" Table reminders | A table you hold a seat at is this evening, or was called off | Account, "Notifications", or where a table's page offers it Rounds | A round you asked to hear about has opened, or results are out for a round you entered | Pursuits Your college is now open | One email, once, to an address left on a waiting list. The address is then deleted from that list | The waiting-list form 4.4 Email to people who are not members --------------------------------------- We write to a person who is not a member only at an address that person typed into one of our forms. Email to people who are not members. Columns: message, when, notes. Message | When | Notes ---------------------- Code for an outside confirmation | You opened a confirmation link that a member shared with you, chose to confirm, and typed your own organizational address | Fixed wording. If you did not ask for it, nothing is recorded without the code "You confirmed a record" | You completed a confirmation | Links to a page that shows what you confirmed and lets you withdraw it or hide your name You can join, or donations are open | Once, when joining or donations open, to an address you left on the early list | Nothing is sent when you join the list. The address is deleted after this one email We have your request | You sent a removal request, a copyright notice or a dispute | Ticket number and status link The outcome of your request | The request is closed | We have your note | You sent an inquiry about a larger tip or a sponsorship | Fixed wording. It quotes nothing you wrote Confirm your place on the waiting list | You typed your address into the waiting list | Nothing is saved unless you press the button in the email Each of these carries a line reading "Never email this address again", which works in one step (section 9.4). A status link in one of these emails is private to you. Anyone who has the link and your email address can see the state of your request, so do not forward it. 4.5 Email to staff ------------------ For completeness: the site also sends the president and any other staff a morning summary of what is waiting (counts only, with no member's name or words), reminders when a legal deadline is approaching, and a message when a staff account is created. Urgent alerts go to the president's phone and carry a case number and a severity level, nothing else. Members never receive any of these. 4.6 What we do not send ----------------------- - No email you did not ask for, other than the essential and notice email above. - No advertising for other companies, and no email written or paid for by a sponsor. - No email that asks for a tip. - No "come back" email. We do not write to you because you have been away. The weekly letter is opt-in, and it stops by itself if you stay away. - No invitations sent for members. When a member invites someone to a table or asks someone to confirm something, the member shares a link themselves. A member never types another person's email address into the site. - No calendar invitations by email. A calendar file for a table is something you download from the table's page. We do not email it, because we send no attachments. - No receipts for tips. If you leave a tip, the receipt comes from Stripe, at Stripe's own address and under Stripe's terms. An invoice for a larger tip also comes from Stripe. Those are Stripe's messages, not ours, and they are the one case in which a genuine email about Tillyard comes from somewhere other than our own domains. - No mailboxes for members. We do not give members addresses at our domain (section 15.2). - No text messages and no phone calls. We do not ask for or hold a phone number for you. - No browser push notifications. - No postal advertising. We do not rent, sell or share email addresses for anyone's marketing. The Privacy Notice says who handles your address for us. 5. What every email of ours looks like ====================================== 5.1 The sender -------------- - Email from the site is sent from hello@tillyard.org, at tillyard.org. The sender's name reads "Tillyard". - A reply from a person comes from support@tillyard.org, legal@tillyard.org, security@tillyard.org or accessibility@tillyard.org, all at tillyard.org. - The sending domain publishes the standard records (SPF, DKIM and DMARC) that let your mail provider check that a message came from us. Most mail programs show a warning, or move the message to spam, when that check fails. 5.2 The message --------------- - It is sent in two forms at once, a text-only version and a designed version. They say the same thing. - The designed version is a single column on a paper-coloured ground, with our name set as text at the top, one accent colour and thin rules. There is no logo image. - It is about one thing. It has at most one button, and the button's label says where it goes. - It contains no images loaded from anywhere, no attachments, and nothing that plays or moves. - Every link goes straight to a page on tillyard.org. Links are not shortened and do not go through a tracking address. - It contains nobody else's words. Most of our email contains no name at all, not even yours. - It is written in English. 5.3 The footer -------------- Every email ends with: - a line that names Tillyard and the company behind it, Tillyard; - our postal address, 10602 York Rd SW, Etna, Ohio 43062; - one sentence saying why you received it, for example "You asked for this letter on 3 October 2026" or "This is a notice about your account, so it is sent whatever your email settings are"; - on optional email, an "Unsubscribe" link; - on email to someone who is not a member, a "Never email this address again" link. 6. No tracking ============== - No open tracking. Our email contains no hidden image and no remote content, so opening a message tells us nothing. We do not know whether you read it. - No click tracking. Links are ordinary addresses on tillyard.org. We do not rewrite them to pass through a counter. - What we do record. For each email, a line saying which kind it was, when it was sent and whether the delivery company accepted it. The body is not recorded. The Data Retention Schedule gives the period. - What the delivery company records. Once the site sends email, the company that delivers it will keep its own delivery records: the address, the time, and whether the message was delivered, bounced or marked as spam. We keep its open-tracking and click-tracking features switched off. - The unsubscribe link is the one exception. It carries a signed value that names one account and one kind of email, so that pressing it stops that email without a sign-in. It is used for nothing else. 7. What we never ask for by email ================================= No email from us, and no reply from a person here, asks you for any of these: - A sign-in code. Codes are typed only into a page on tillyard.org that you opened yourself. Staff never ask you to read, forward or send a code. - A password. Nobody here asks for yours, by email or in a reply. - Approval of a passkey request that you did not start. - Payment of any kind. Membership is free to students today. Tips are optional and are left on Stripe's pages, which you reach from the site. A larger tip is paid only against an invoice from Stripe that follows a written exchange you began. - Bank account details, card numbers or anything you would use to pay. We also never send ours. Our bank details are not published anywhere. - An identity document, a photograph of yourself, a date of birth or a Social Security number. - Software. We never ask you to install anything, open an attachment, or share your screen. - A move to another app. We do not ask you to continue a conversation on a messaging app or by phone. - Store cards, vouchers or cryptocurrency. Nobody genuine ever asks for these. And no link in any email of ours signs you in. A link takes you to a page on tillyard.org. If you are not signed in, that page asks you to sign in with your passkey in the usual way. 8. How to recognize a genuine message ===================================== 8.1 A short check ----------------- 1. Is it on the list in section 4? We send nothing else. 2. Does the sender's address end in tillyard.org or tillyard.org? Look at the address itself, not only the name shown. The one exception is a payment receipt or an invoice from Stripe (section 4.6). 3. Does it ask for anything in section 7? Then it is not from us. 4. Does it have an attachment, or an image you are asked to load? Then it is not from us. 5. Where does the link go? Rest your pointer on it, or press and hold it on a phone. It should begin with https://tillyard.org/. If it goes anywhere else, do not follow it. 6. Does the footer carry our legal name and postal address? When in doubt, do not use the email at all. Open tillyard.org yourself and sign in. Anything real is waiting for you there, in your notices. 8.2 If a message looks wrong ---------------------------- - Do not click anything in it, and do not reply. - Forward it to security@tillyard.org, then delete it. - If you have already typed a code or approved a passkey request because of it, follow the steps in the Security and Vulnerability Disclosure Policy, section 6. 8.3 A code you did not ask for ------------------------------ Someone has typed your address into one of our forms, by mistake or on purpose. Do nothing. A code that is not entered does nothing and stops working after a few minutes. The number of codes that can be sent to one address is limited. If codes keep arriving, tell us at security@tillyard.org. 8.4 Someone who says they are staff ----------------------------------- Staff accounts are held only by the owner and by people working for us under a paid contract. No member acts for us. A note, a chat line or an email from someone who says they can approve your paper, grant a title or fix your account in exchange for a code or a payment is not from us. Please report it. 9. Switching email off ====================== 9.1 Optional email ------------------ There are four ways, and each works by itself: - The link in the email. "Unsubscribe" in the footer opens a page with one button that stops the kind of email named in the link. Press it. You do not need to sign in, and you are asked for nothing. - Stopping every optional email at once. Reply to any optional email, or write to support@tillyard.org from the address concerned, and say "stop all". We then switch off every optional email for that address. No form and no sign-in is needed. - Your mail program. Many mail programs show their own "Unsubscribe" button beside the sender's name. Ours is set up so that pressing it works in one step. - Your account. Account, "Notifications", lists each optional email that is on, with a "Stop" button. 9.2 What happens when you unsubscribe ------------------------------------- - The email stops at once. It is not sent again unless you turn it back on in your account. - Unsubscribing by the link stops the kind of email named in the link. Other optional emails you switched on stay on until you stop them, and you can stop every optional email at once by writing to us (9.1) or under Notifications in your account. - We will stop sending you an optional email within 10 business days of your asking, which is the limit the law sets. In practice the stop takes effect in our system the moment you press the button. - The link in an email goes on working for at least 30 days after the email was sent. - Stopping an email costs nothing, needs no sign-in and asks for no information from you. - Stopping optional email never affects your standing, your Record or your access to anything. 9.3 Essential email and notices ------------------------------- These cannot be switched off while you have an account, or while a request you made is open. - A sign-in code is how the site knows a mailbox is yours. - A security notice is how you find out that someone else may be in your account. - A decision notice may start a period in which you can ask for a second look. - A legal notice tells you that something you agreed to is changing. A member who is suspended or has been removed still receives essential email and notices, and can still stop optional email in any of the ways above. If you do not want any email from us at all, the way to stop it is to close your account. The Account Deletion and Data Export Policy says how. The email that confirms you have asked to close the account, sent at the start of the closing period, is the last one. When the erasure has run we send that address nothing more. 9.4 If you are not a member --------------------------- Every email we send to a person who is not a member carries the line "Never email this address again". Pressing it adds your address to our do-not-email list. - The list holds a keyed hash of the address, not the address. - Before the site sends any email, it checks the list. An address on it is sent nothing: no codes, no receipts, no acknowledgements. - That has a consequence. An address on the list cannot be used to confirm something for a member or to receive a ticket for a request, because we cannot send it a code. To lift it, write to support@tillyard.org from that address. - An entry stays until you ask us to lift it. 9.5 If you cannot use the link ------------------------------ Write to support@tillyard.org from the address concerned and say which email you want stopped, or that you want none. No form is needed. 10. Notices in the app ====================== - Most of what happens reaches you as a notice in the app: on your home page, in your notices list, and, if a page is open, as it happens. - Notices are grouped by area. Under Account, "Notifications", you can switch a group off. - Safety and account notices cannot be switched off. They are how you learn of a decision, a hold or a change to your account. - You can pause notices for a day, for a week, or until you turn them back on. While paused, they still collect on your home page, and safety and account notices come through regardless. - A notice is kept for 90 days. - Sounds are off unless you switch them on. - A notice in the app is shown only to you, inside the site, once you have signed in. 11. Your email address ====================== 11.1 One address ---------------- Your account has one email address: the college address you joined with, or the one you later moved to. All email for the account goes there. We do not hold a second address for you. 11.2 Keeping it working ----------------------- - Once a year we ask you to confirm that the address still reaches you, by sending a code. If the check lapses, parts of the site pause until it is done. The Eligibility and Verification Policy describes this. - If your college is about to close your address, move your account to a new college address first, under Account, "Sign-in and school email". After the address stops working we may have no way to reach you, and no way to confirm that the account is yours. - If mail to your address keeps being refused, we may stop sending optional email to it. 11.3 Your college can see your college mailbox ---------------------------------------------- Your college runs the mailbox. Depending on its rules, people who administer its mail system may be able to see, keep or filter what arrives there. That is one reason our email says so little: no member's words, a neutral subject, and a link in. 11.4 If our email does not arrive --------------------------------- - Look in your spam or quarantine folder. College mail systems hold back mail from senders they have not seen before. - Add hello@tillyard.org to your contacts or your safe-senders list. - Ask for another code after a minute or two. Only the newest code works. - If nothing arrives, write to support@tillyard.org from your college address. 11.5 A note for people who run a college's mail system ------------------------------------------------------ Tillyard sends a small volume of one-to-one email to students who typed their own college address into our site: sign-in codes above all. We send no bulk mail to lists and we do not buy or collect addresses. All of it comes from tillyard.org, signed, with published SPF and DMARC records. If our mail is being held, or if you believe an address at your college is being misused through our forms, write to security@tillyard.org. We are not affiliated with any college and have no connection to your systems. 12. When email is late or is not sent ===================================== The site can send only a limited number of emails each day, and it keeps its own ceiling below that limit so that a flood of requests cannot run up a bill or get the domain blocked. - When the allowance is running short, essential email goes first, notice email next, and optional email last. - If a notice email cannot be sent, the notice in the app is still made. Nothing is lost. It simply was not copied to your inbox. - If a sign-in code cannot be sent, the page says so: "We can't send codes right now. Try again after midnight UTC." A passkey sign-in needs no email and still works. - If the weekly letter cannot be sent, it waits for the following week. - Mail systems outside our control can also delay or discard a message. For these reasons your account is the record. A notice that starts a clock under the Terms of Use (a formal notice of a claim, or notice of an important change) is always posted in your account as well as emailed, and is not treated as received merely because an email was sent (section 36.1 of those terms). If an email and your account ever differ, or an email never arrived, what your account shows is what counts. Sign in from time to time, especially if you are waiting for a decision. 13. Writing to us ================= 13.1 Where to write ------------------- Where to write. Columns: for, write to. For | Write to -------------- General help, refunds, stopping an email | support@tillyard.org A request about your information, a dispute, a legal notice | legal@tillyard.org A security problem, or a message that pretends to be from us | security@tillyard.org A barrier, or a document in another format | accessibility@tillyard.org A copyright notice | The designated agent named in the Copyright Policy Removal of an intimate image | The form or the address in the Intimate-Image Removal Policy The Legal Notices and Imprint has the full list, including the postal address and where court papers go. 13.2 What to expect ------------------- - A person reads these mailboxes. Today that is the president. - We do not state a reply time, except where a law sets one. - A reply comes from one of the addresses above. It follows every rule in section 7. - Replies to hello@tillyard.org, the address automated email comes from, may not be read. Please write to one of the addresses above. 13.3 What not to send us ------------------------ Please do not email us a sign-in code, a card or bank account number, an identity document or a Social Security number. We do not need them and do not want to hold them. If you send one by mistake, tell us and we can delete the message. 13.4 What we keep ----------------- Email you send us is kept in the company's mailbox for the period the Data Retention Schedule gives for correspondence, and longer if it becomes part of a case or a legal matter. The company's mailboxes are provided by an email company. The Privacy Notice lists the companies that handle information for us. 13.5 Formal notices and court papers ------------------------------------ Sending something to one of these addresses is not always enough to give formal legal notice. The Terms of Use, section 36, say what counts. Court papers are served on the company's statutory agent, as the Legal Notices and Imprint sets out. 14. Letters from a person ========================= Sometimes the president writes to someone outside the site: a student organization, a professor, a careers office, a campus newspaper, a possible sponsor, a person who wrote in. - These are ordinary letters, written and sent by a person from an address at tillyard.org. The site does not send them, and they are not sent in bulk. - They follow the rules in section 7. They never ask for a code, never send or ask for bank details, and never suggest that payment changes anything on the site. - They state that Tillyard is an Ohio nonprofit corporation and is not affiliated with any college. - If you receive one and would rather not hear from us again, reply and say so. We keep a note of that so it is honoured. 15. Tools that help you write your own email ============================================ 15.1 Nothing is sent by us -------------------------- The Workbench and The Almanac offer a signature builder, a library of outreach templates and a helper that puts together a short professional email from prompts. Each one produces text for you to send from your own mail program: it either copies the text or opens a new message in your mail program. The site sends nothing, sees no recipient, and keeps no copy of what you send. Because those emails are yours, what you say in them is yours to get right. The Trademark and Brand Use Policy says how to describe what you did here truthfully. 15.2 No addresses at our domain ------------------------------- We do not offer members a mailbox or an address at tillyard.org. An address at a company's domain tells the reader that the sender works for, or is connected with, that company. Members do not work for us, and every other rule here is written to avoid giving that impression. If you receive email from an address at tillyard.org that claims to be a member, it is not genuine. Forward it to security@tillyard.org. 16. Other channels ================== - Text messages and calls. We do not send texts or make calls to members, and we hold no phone number for you. - Post. We do not send post to members in the ordinary course. A formal legal notice may be sent by post where the law or the Terms of Use call for it. - Social media. Any account that speaks for Tillyard is listed in the Legal Notices and Imprint. We do not send private messages on social media about your account, and we never ask for a code there. - Announcements. News that affects everyone, such as posted hours or a planned pause, is shown on the site. 17. The rules behind this ========================= United States law on commercial email (the CAN-SPAM Act) sets a few rules that we follow for all of our email, whether or not the law would count a particular message as commercial: - the "From" line and the routing information say truthfully who sent the message; - the subject line says truthfully what the message is about; - the message carries a real postal address for the sender; - email that is not essential says how to stop it, the way to stop it works for at least 30 days after sending, and a request to stop is honoured within the time the law allows (section 9.2); - stopping an email costs nothing and needs nothing but the address. Your agreement to receive notices electronically is in the Terms of Use. 18. Accessibility ================= Every email has a text-only version, relies on no image, and is checked in light and dark modes. The Accessibility Statement (sections 3.12 and 6.16) says more, including what to do if a mail program reads our layout badly. 19.
